Alex's Journey - "Finding His Voice Through Creativity"

We’re extremely proud to share Alex’s incredible transformation at Tubers!

Before joining us in May 2024, Alex had been out of mainstream school for a year, struggling with dysregulation and selective mutism, which affected his peer relationships.

Tubers was chosen to help him rebuild
confidence and trust in education. To support his transition, we worked closely with his mum, who stayed for 4 weeks to help Alex overcome his separation anxiety. Gradually, Alex gained the confidence to enjoy his sessions independently.

Our goals for Alex were clear: Engage in learning / Build SEMH skills / Improve social communications / Prepare for reintegration into mainstream school.

Our dedicated mentors formed strong bonds with Alex, using strategies like cognitive and active engagement, collaborative projects, and joint gaming to foster connection – Alex grew more confident and thrived in digital media projects.

Recognising his progress through small milestones, certificates, and immediate feedback helped improve his self-esteem. He began interacting with peers and even started sharing lunch with another student.

As his confidence grew, he took on a leadership role in creative sessions, guiding peers and mentors alike on various projects. After just eight months, Alex built a strong sense of self-worth and successfully reintegrated into full-time mainstream education.

We are incredibly proud of his growth and excited for the future steps of his educational journey!

why learn digital skills?

More Job Opportunities

Learning digital skills opens up many possibilities in industries like tech, entertainment, and marketing. Skills such as video editing, animation, or graphic design can help students secure jobs in film, gaming, or advertising.

Higher Pay

Being skilled in multiple areas makes individuals more valuable. For example, combining social media expertise with video editing helps students stand out and achieve higher earnings.

Start a Business

By mastering digital tools, students can freelance or start personal projects. For instance, editing videos, producing music, or designing illustrations offers independence and the ability to choose projects.

Enhancing Social and Emotional Skills

Collaboration is often a key part of digital media projects. At Tubers Academy, children work in groups to brainstorm, plan, and execute their ideas. This fosters communication, teamwork, and empathy—critical social skills that children with autism or PDA may find more difficult to develop in traditional settings.
